The Fourth World Mahjong Championship will be held on this November at Jeju Island, South Korea.
Mahjong is a traditional mind sports in China. All the good Mahjong players will come to South Korea this fall. A wold class Mahjong competition coming this November.
World Mahjong Organization, headquarter in China, had announced that the Fourth World Mahjong Culture Exchange Congress and Championship will be at famous tourists destination, Jeju Island, in conjunction of Tenth Anniversary of establishment of the World Mahjong Organization. There will be more than 300 players from Asia, America and Europe.
WMO also indicate that Asia branch (Asia Ming Mahjong Association of the World Mahjong Organization) will be establish, it will promote Mahjong culture not only among Chine, Japan and South Korea, but also around the world.
WinAsia Law Firm is in charge of organizing event, Mr. Soochul Lee of WinAsia Law Firm said a game company will sponsor the Championship.
There are several Mahjong tournament be hosted in China, it will determine who will attend the World Mahjong Championship.
As a traditional Chinese game, Mahjong also can been view as a representative of typical entertainment of Greater Chinese Culture Sphere. MahjongTime, a American website, has calculated there are more than 600 million Mahjong players worldwide. A combination of Bridge, Chess, Go and Chinese Chess players only reach 700 million.
World Mahjong Organization established on 2005, the first president is Yu Guanyuan, former Vice President of China Academy of Social Science. The current president is Wang Zhiguo, Vice President of All China Federation of Industry & Commerce.
There are three World Mahjong Championship already, the first one is at Emeishan, Sichuan. The second one is at the Netherlands.
The Third World Mahjong Championship had players from China, Japan, Singapore, America, Russia, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Holland, Denmark, Austria, Belgium, Sweden and Brazil, total 27 countries.
